Clearly the beast is being telepathically controlled by that woman and the boy -- her hostage! I, of course, am scrying this information from the twist of her mouth, and sunglasses.
A sort of a pet, then. She does seem to be in charge.
I am very afraid that that poor child suffered many attacks in his life which he did not see coming.
Twist: and now that child is Davis Sedaris.
