To the glory of Communism

Russian communism may have worked out badly, but you just can't touch their propaganda. This is beautiful. The open hands, throwing rocket victoriously into space. The look on his face, proud but good natured and human. The limitless reaches of space, waiting to be explored. Is it any wonder it's so primarily the Russians keeping the ISS stocked and manned?

Astronaut Training

Okay, now, that's just fucking cool looking. I intend to appropriate this graphic at the next opportunity.

Planet of the Knob Heads

Why? Why do they want human women so very badly? Robots, aliens, creatures from black lagoons, they all want those Earthly babes.

Laughstronauts

Back in 1985, when I was 9 and Hurricane Kate shut down all the schools, my Aunt Lynn took my sister and I down to watch the shuttle blast off. It was the Atlantis, and there people right here rode it into space. I wonder if they laugh a lot in space. I wonder if it blew their mind every time they lifted off.

Touching

If I have a favorite pop-culture referencing visual artist, it may be this one. I love that they included Buster.

I'm inspired. I'm going to put this aside for a bit and work on a personal letterhead. Want mail? Send your street address and two questions for me to answer (I have to have something to write about, right?) to me at drunkonpabst at gmail dot com.

Home from Above

I have a lot of little things to say about this. First, the view out of my window at work looks pretty sad after looking at this photo. Second, did you know a bunch of astronauts have a rock band called Max Q? That may be my second favorite random theme band after the Rock Bottom Remainders. Anyway, Dr. Dyson here is one of their lead vocalists. Third, it looks like casting Sigourney Weaver in Alien was pretty damn realistic. Fourth, and most importantly, there are people living in space! Constantly orbiting Earth! They are up there right now! In space! It blows my little mind.

You should click on this one and take another, larger look at it. You don't see a lot of collage work in classic comics.

The Battle of LA

The facts, Jack: weeks after Pearl Harbor, a huge craft was spotted coming in low over Los Angeles. It was hit by spotlights and photographed. While it sat over the city, nearly motionless, and in plain view of thousands of folks, the army started shooting anti-aircraft guns at it. Thousands of rounds. 6 people died and shrapnel rained down. None of it was from the visitor, however, who eventually cruised off over Long Beach and disappeared into the night.
