It's no wonder the phrase "rest in peace" was so popular. People worked so damn hards their entire lives that death, at the very least, offered rest.

A couple weeks ago I found out my step-dad's uncle died at the age of 13 or 14 while working in the coal mines. Specifically, "Right leg torn off through slipping on top of casing covering screw conveyor and having his foot caught by screw. Fatal"

Birdie, I can't think of any other accidental way to die that horrifies me more than torn apart in a hole in the ground.
