Running a Race

In their stocking feet and determined to win. And that guy on the left looks a little chuckly for someone who gets to run in shorts.

Those ladies are all wearing wedding rings. I don't know why, but I didn't expect that.

Mama: well, I don't think there were a whole lot of unmarried women running around at that age back then. Not at family type events.

Karen: that one on the left, I think. She is in it to win it.

If you knew Toronto Island, nothing would surprise you. At least not in those days. It was a tiny and very bohemian community of artists, writers, actors, musicians and ne'er-do-wells where anything might happen on any given day and usually did. My father was from there. His father was an artist, illustrator and photographer and I think he probably took this pic. Not many people had cameras in 1907 and there were only perhaps a couple hundred people living on the island, if that many.

I am late to this post, but I haven't wandered over from Bless Our Hearts in a while, so I missed this. Thanks for sharing it.
