A building I'd love to own. A tree I'd love to climb.

I'm gonna say she's picking up a found penny. Because my life is less complicated that way.

Hello? She got a runner in her pantyhose. And that, my friends, is true hell.

That could be it.

It is colder than it had been that morning when she went to her clerical job at the bank. At lunch, she bought a pair of thick wool socks at the Five & Dime next to the lunch counter where she often eats. They were warm under her desk as she typed, but walking home is presenting a problem as the socks will not stay up on her legs.

Out of modesty, she wears her skirts just a little bit longer than the other girls, but the cold is driving her, now, to endure the embarrassment of brightly colored woolen socks which do not fit.

She laughs at herself a little, as she bends to pull them up for the fifth, or maybe sixth, time since turning the corner a block before. Eight more blocks to go and no place on the way to duck in and warm up. She knows it is going to be a awkward trip home.

Melony is completely unaware that the building beside her was once the appliance store where the old radio her upstairs neighbors, a widow, still uses had been bought twenty-two years before.

Yep. I am pretty sure that is what we see.

That was excellent, thank you. Inspired me to update this blog tonight.
