Galloping Gertie

Double hell no. I see this and all the air leaves my body.

Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Washington State
1940
(but I had to go digging around
to find out what bridge it was)

I wouldn't even want to be taking the picture.
It sure is nice to see you here again. Awesome.

Me, either, because WHERE WAS THE PHOTOGRAPHER STANDING?!

(Thanks, I wasn't feeling into it until last night.)

There's some beautiful video footage of the bridge about to collapse. Look it up on youtube. No one got hurt.

Yep, the only casualty was a dog. Still and yet, no way I'm walking my happy ass out on cables like that.

Yep. Never no never. It is Horrible and I Can Not Stand It. That is always how I felt/ what I saw whenever I drove over the Skyway Bridge.

Oh, man, I do not miss driving the skyway.

Hank, I travel this bridge frequently and I still feel like that. Only know there's a tow so you have to pay for crapping your pants when the wind blows.

Yeah, I think I'll just skip that.

One of the best photos I've ever seen. The proportions of the things are perfect. Such drama. But also, somehow, beautiful.

I wish I knew who took it.
