A Salty Dog

Clearly an old hand doing a little exploring.

Love it. The farmer tan, the pose, all of it. I hope his eye got better.

He's a tough little bugger. You can tell. I think I love him.

Reminds me of those Arthur Ransome books. Swallows and Amazons.

Steph: me, too.
Mama: ditto.
x-ray: I never read them. Worth it?

It has been many a year since I read them.
I recall desperately wanting a sailboat but that was never to be (and honestly, probably for the best. I think I'm the type to knock myself out with the boom or something).
On a purely puerile (on my behalf) note: I tried to reread Swallows and Amazons a couple of years ago, but could not get past the fact that one child's name is Titty (evidently in reference to a popular story called Titty Mouse and Tatty Mouse). I failed, I simply failed, to manage to read the word over and over in reference to a little girl--something that never occurred to me as inappropriate in my own girlhood. Ah, time and its passing.

Evidently in televised versions of the story her name is changed to Kitty.

The character Ninny Threadgood in Fried Green Tomatoes was always good for a giggle, too.

Yeah? So where's his conch shell?

I. Love. This.

I knew you would.

That is my brother in the photo. His eye wasn't hurt, he just had a bandage over his glasses to correct the other eye that had a "squint"
