On a Personal Note

I'm adding this one just for anyone who is curious but doesn't follow my mama's blog. That's me, the big fellow in the blue shirt, singing along with gusto, and a few of my nearest and dearest. So let it not be said that I won't put my picture up for comment as well. And speaking of comments, here we are at the end of another year, a year of odd images and old photos. If you follow this blog quietly, please at least say hi now. And, if you think about it, which of this year's pictures were your favorite?

Thanks for coming around, y'all.

If every picture tells a story (and the good ones do) then you've given us thousands of stories to wonder over, ponder on.
I love this picture of you, my son.
I love you.
And I couldn't figure out a favorite here if you put a gun to my head.
Although this one- well- maybe this one. Because it is of you.

Great sit. Please keep it up! And thanks!

Aw, mama. I bet if someone'd showed you this picture in 1985 and told you that would be me in 25 years, you'd have thought they were off their nut.

Thanks, anon!

Ooops. Should have been site.....

Rear End is my favorite...because of an old joke my hubby and I tell...keep um coming.

Thanks! It's often funny to me how wide the range of opinions on these pictures are.

Hank: You know I never comment, but I'm always checking this site. Your retro-picture, probably from longer ago than a year, of three naked women at a bar, first got me interested in photo blogs and I've since been addicted to same. That picture, and many others you've chosen, now populate my rotating series of screensavers. Your eye is magnificent and sharp--your commentary always of interest. Through this blog, I try to see the man. L7

Thank you so much. I have so much fun picking out images to post here, and it warms me to know that's appreciated. I'd love to know a few of the other photos you picked for your screensaver.

SB, hush yourself.
Steph, hey! You were one of my first and most regular commenters.

Thanks! I feel a little silly calling looking at pictures "work" though.

Hi Hank. Your blog is as interesting and unique as your Mama's. Of course I love the picture of you and your friends singing full tilt - what is the song? I don't know how to pick a favorite photo, but I'll tell you I have a thing for chickens and once when I was a child, we were on vacation somewhere in the south and there was a chicken in a cage and for a nickel it would dance for food. It was fascinating and horrifying all at once. So I'd have to rank Delma's Dance Hall among my favorites. You know, I think I'm going to have to go back and look at your posts to see what I might have missed. Here's to another good year of old and odd:)

From the fact that Deb is holding that bottle, I'd say the song we were singing along to was called Whiskey. If you hit the Lucky Scars link at the bottom of the entry, you'll see a "music video" for that song. I'm in it several times - see if you can spot me (haha).

The dancing chicken was a good find - I wasn't even browsing it add, I just came across it. Old and odd indeed!

We're a media empire! I wonder, can you see any of my mom's style in the photos and art I choose to exhibit?

Hello!
I happened upon here via sweet juniper (I think).
I love it! My recent favourite was Vernon Jones and Ms. Jones just because the little girl is so darn sweet!

Keep it up, thanks :)

I am a quiet follower and enjoy immensley.

My favourite from the year are the cartoon panel of the kid dreaming about riding on a large lovable looking birds back, developing through his teens to the transformer like robot and further before returning to the giant bird later in life.

I also liked the sheep 'MacGregor'. Mostly because of your comment - 'that's some solid sheep' - nice...

thanks.

Abe: Sweet Juniper is a great blog. I was really stoked to have one of "my" photos picked up there. Good pick on the Joneses, I dig that one, too.

Brendon: I don't think that bird one is one of mine, but MacGregor certainly is. I still want a copy of that one for my wall.

Hi, I'm Rachel from Toronto! Been following your blog for about a year now...I absolutely love it. My favourites are "Sheriff" (mostly because of your caption!) and "Paying the Penalty" because she looks so beaten, yet beautiful. Thank you for the thoughtful and clever insights into the pictures you post!

Brendon said...

Was definitely one of yours but was going by memory and just realised I think it might have been a huge chicken not a bird...

Hello! I've commented a few times and it's nice to see the mug behind the images.

Favourite photo? Too hard! I like your dirty ones, of course, but the one of the hippies in the glass house was what got me hooked on your site.

Rachel: Is it cold up there right now? Is that the first thing all Americans ask you? Thanks for your comment. That one I called Paying the Price really stuck with me. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to share it.

Brendon: I'm still not remembering it, but I have posted enough to not recall every one.

m: I realized this weekend that I've been slacking on the dirty ones!

white rabbit: I hear the rabble are giving your royals a little trouble right now.

Jucie: I'm glad you liked that one! I thought it was great, but I wasn't sure if anyone else would agree with me.

John: Smappy Mismis!

Hi! It's bitterly cold here now...but still waiting for the snow! Just north of here, it's about over 2-3 feet high.
(p.s. I get a secret thrill from clicking "I understand and I wish to continue" with the content warning. Wooo, I'm at work!)

That Hank said...

Good luck with the snow. You know, I've never seen more than a half inch of the stuff.

I think my sister said that same thing about the warning once. Maybe? Anyway, I really need to post more naked people.

What I said was that I like clicking on it and then seeing cock or boobies. It makes it all worthwhile. However, if it was all cock or boobies I don't know...
Dancing cock!
I can't think of my favorite one. I liked the young Navy guys getting tattooed, I liked the polar bears, I liked the 2 gallon kid in the 10 gallon hat with the dog, I like all the shacks and shanties, the bubble house, the girl swinging from the bell....
I like this one a lot. I lika you face.

That Hank said...

I forgot the polar bears! Those were so great, especially your conversation between them.

Hey Hank, this is Rachel. Rudy suggested I follow this and I'm loving it so far.

This pic is so fucking brilliant. I mean, really, I cannot get enough of this. You can see and hear the action in this photo and damn does it make me want to be there with you. I cannot possibly pick a favorite. Partly this is because they are all so fucking grand and partly because I have no short term memory to speak of so do not remember what I have witnessed. I know I always love the nudity though. Oh wait! Wasn't there one of a bunch of nude German soldiers? THAT ONE.

That Hank said...

Hey Rachel, good to see you!

Hey mouse, you should comment more often!

Hey Shan, thanks! You would not believe how many pictures of German soldiers with their pants off I have run across. What is the deal with that?
