Bonnie McCarroll thrown from "Silver"


This was in 1915, and she walked away from it. She competed in the rodeo for fourteen more years before it killed her.

I sure didn't know about this woman. I had to look her up. After she died, women were banned from riding broncs and so on. Women who wanted to do so had to pose as men. Elaine Miles, who played Marilyn on NE, came from a line of women who did just that - put their hair under their hats and rode the dangerous beasts.
