I want to add, I look at things like this and am blown away by the strength and courage it took at certain times (and even now in certain places) just to acknowledge the truth about one's romantic and sexual attractions.

I wrote a short story once about going back in time to tell Oscar Wilde on a train station platform (when he was being transferred from one prison to another) that he's be an honored hero in a century hence.
