Grounded on Dog Island

This one is beautiful, but I'm mostly posting it because of a personal connection. For those who don't know, Dog Island is a small, sandy island just off the North Florida coast. There's no bridge, no stores, no cops, just a few houses and a public dock. My friends and I will be spending 5 days there later this summer, if the oil slick doesn't coat the beaches and a hurricane doesn't wipe it clean. A week of pirate life is a good thing.

Sounds awesome!

A good pirate vacation requires lots of rum. And it's easier to transport than cases of beer.

Mama: look up Dog Island in the archives, there were a lot of ships grounded there from that storm. This is just the best picture.

BE: Oh, there will be rum. But I'm a beer man, so I'll be hauling a full cooler for sure. It's the one vacation where you come back with lighter gear than you left with.

Oh, I plan to. My family's got a little beach shack there. I wish I could use it more often.

So jealous. I love Dog Island, minus the horseflies.

Me, too, but now, with the oil, I just don't know what's going to happen.
