All American Girls Professional Baseball League

She's thrown off her mask and cap to make the catch. I want to find out more about this woman, Mary Rountree. Pro baseball player and medical student at Florida State College for Women (now FSU, right here in Tallahassee) at the time this was taken. I bet she had (is having?) a hell of a life.

Wow, pro baseball and medical school? How do people do that kind of thing. It's amazing and I bet she was/is awesome.

Sadly, Mary passed away a few years ago.

Here is a great site with bios of many of the players in the AAGPBL, including Mary Rountree.

B.E.'s the man! Also, I think that site just revealed a little more about Dr. Rountree:

"Dr. Mary is survived by dear friend, Doris Malmuth..."
