I firmly believe that rock stars should act like rock stars. I want drug-fueled destruction, over-the-top glamour, or some insane combination thereof. Perfect example right here.

And crazy good hair! And earrings in both ears! Especially the men! Yes!
It bugs me when bands go on stage in their normal clothes. Dress up, you're performing!
Well, I like the fact that Jimmy Buffet goes onstage in his shorts and flip-flops. If he bothers to wear shoes.
I'm going to be hated for saying anything about Jimmy Buffet, aren't I? He's not a rock star though. He's just...Jimmy Buffet.
But those old blues guys had it right. Dressed up to the nines and a guy right there on stage next to them to hand them their hankies to wipe the sweat off their brows.
Like my daddy. B.B. King.
Yeah, but you know Buffet picks that out deliberately. I don't care if they put on a suit, I just want to know they thought about what to put on at all.
I hear that working in James Brown's band was like being in the army - god help you if your shoes weren't shined or your tie was stained.
Jesus. He always was Mr. Fashion. Laugh.
His band was fined if they weren't groomed up to Mr. Brown's standards.

I knoooow! It doesn't have to be fancy, but there should be a sense of occasion about whatever they're wearing. I get grumpy when a band on tv looks like they just picked something up off the bedroom floor and didn't even make sure it passed the sniff test.
Honestly, even messy/dirty clothes are fine by me if that matches your band's sound, as long as it feels like you meant to put that on and didn't just drag your ass up there to play.
When I gave dad his cuff links he said, "Oooo, now I'll have to get a black shirt with silver piping!". That shit cracked me up.
Also, I love a man in a fur coat.
Dad's taste in clothes is so... stage.
Add an R and an N to stage and you've got that right. Heh.
(okay now I feel bad. I like the stage clothes.)
Remember all the little mirrors?
My friend's in this New Jersey rocksteady/ska band, The Forthrights, and they all dress up except for the singer. Most retarded thing ever. When you're in a rocksteady band, you've gotta look sharp. They will never get anywhere until he at least puts on a nice, well-fit polo or button down instead of a goddamn unbuttoned flannel shirt over a white undershirt.
:endrant
Exactly! Do not dress like you are in a grunge band if you are playing rocksteady.
