When did people start smiling in photos? Some time after the 1930s, I guess.

Here's what I think- "happiness" is something that was invented at some point in the twentieth century. After this picture was taken, anyway.
Not that people weren't happy sometimes. It just wasn't expected and it probably wasn't expressed as much, either.
This is why we are all on anti-depressants- we expect to be happy when in reality, that's a load of crap.
Or, it could be that I just need to go back on my anti-depressant.

One hat can be an entire costume if well played. Trying on hats is like trying on different people, don't you think?
