Home from Above

I have a lot of little things to say about this. First, the view out of my window at work looks pretty sad after looking at this photo. Second, did you know a bunch of astronauts have a rock band called Max Q? That may be my second favorite random theme band after the Rock Bottom Remainders. Anyway, Dr. Dyson here is one of their lead vocalists. Third, it looks like casting Sigourney Weaver in Alien was pretty damn realistic. Fourth, and most importantly, there are people living in space! Constantly orbiting Earth! They are up there right now! In space! It blows my little mind.

I love this photo! I get NASA emails and tweets, so I enjoyed the whole slideshow this morning too. I think it was on the front page of my internet news too, Italy at night!! I wish the whole world would look at those photos, it might help.
I'm as amazed they are up there as you are. The space shuttle retires this year though, and we'll be privatizing space runs from now on. At least the Hubble is still clicking away up there too.
By the way, the east sky at dawn tonight and tomorrow is supposed to be a good show, but you probably already know that.
Grat post!

What can you say except that there are more things than we can imagine, the world is far more strange and amazing than we can know?

Mel: I only look at the NASA photos from time to time, but they always amaze me. The idea of actually leaving Earth both scares me to my core and completely delights me.

Mama: true true.

Better them than me. I wouldn't go if you paid me a gazillion dollars.

I honestly don't know if I would or not.

I would go in a heart beat. Maybe one day I'll be rich and get to do it. I can't imagine a single experience that could top going to SPACE.

Except maybe ROCK 'N' ROLL in SPACE.

ROCK 'N' ROLL ORGY in SPACE.

Do you suppose they rock out in space? Is sound different in zero gravity? Does it affect the tuning of their guitars?

In space, bad knees wouldn't stop me from getting in the pit!

"The pit", i.e. everywhere.

Circle pit on the ceiling!
